"Tako Free Day" For Sale $600.00
3' x 4' acrylic & wood, original artwork by Mishel Narvaez

Trying to pop on daily with more samples of my artworks! Hope you enjoy this one...I wanted to tell a story...about a diver looking for "tako" (octopus) to spear for his dinner...and by his surprise, Mr. Tako sends his little friends; the jellyfish, to pay the diver a not-so-friendly visit to remind him of the community he is about to disrupt. Yep, my mind goes to the other side often.

Today I created more accounts for my art to travel online! I am now available via narvaezaloha.wordpress.com...and I signed up for artfinder.com too...but that will be a process and take some time because I am not familiar with this site. Its taken me over 20 years to promote myself this way. Usually I am spending most of my time promoting other businesses or people that have worked on my projects. But for the first time, ever! I am promoting me...all me. My paintings, my designs, my furniture, my clothing, and whatever else I am involved with. I am so excited at the possibilities these days!!

Lately, I've been diving into my woodworking. Building furniture is something I fell into when I was tired of paying high prices for limited choices on island. I also noticed more pallets stacked up in town and the county landfill...and watched a ton of youtube vids on recycled furniture and home decor.

So, I purchased a salsaw, a skilsaw, a screw gun, hammer, some nails/screws....and began my new business venture. It's been a learning process, allot of bent screws, broken pieces of wood...not to mention a bit too much swearing! lol! But I've built things from materials that were overlooked and forgotten...and created beautiful pieces for satisfied clients and friends.  Feeling more and more accomplished and satisfied with my decision to build a new business. I have now gathered a collection of bamboo, driftwood, glass, wood, etc...and can't wait to add to my completed pieces; bench, table, wine rack, stool, artworks, and more! And because I am still learning the tools of the trade (punt intended!), my designs are not without some minor flaws, but its country furniture so nobody is going to notice imperfections in the wood as long as pieces are sturdy and built to last...and people are stoked about saving hundreds on their purchase.

Well, I'm getting use to the blogging, hope I can connect with others interested in what I'm doing...and may even have some great advice on how I can accomplish my goals sooner!

****I'd like to take a moment to address the passing of my childrens grandmother Joan Alice Nack. RIP Joanie, I know we had our differences, but I humbly thank you for being in love with both of my children while you were here. Peace be with you and your spirit.****

See you on the other side,

~M.
