Well, looks like another day indoors...its pouring outside!! Grey and wet is not Maui...but winter is here let the layering begin! And yes thick jackets are needed upcountry, believe it or not; its super cold and windy too. Not complaining as much about it raining...its time to get in the spirit of xmas...cold means mexican hot chocolate with marshmellows mmmm, homemade tamales ayayay!, and making xmas ornaments out of baked flour & food coloring....Feliz Navidad baby! hehe...

First, need to build some things to make room for a tree...which I now can not do because its raining buckets /:

Plan B: Finish papermache wall mask & a nene I'm working on for a furniture shop in Wailuku; "Maui Finds & Designs" (see pic I designed for their marketing materials--Mahalo Nina!!!) Please try and check it out if you can, I always find scores and my (special needs) friend; Nathan works there, please be sure to let him know how you 'heard' about his moms shop...and the papermache nene when I'm pau...darn rainy season /:

Best Friends Forever...love you guys so much.

Had time this weekend inbetween holiday parties WOW! FUN!! to work on Jimi painting too. Added his tentacles but not the papermache tentacle...still not sure if I want to permanently add it or maybe separately on wall so it appears to be going through it...still needs more paint details and going to add stars to the tentacles I think too. I like looking at this painting after going out clubbin ha ha...this past weekend after Tiki Lounge, I swear I thought Jimi winked hehe (;

more progress! papermache tentacle not shown...yet (:

Maybe since it seems I may be indoors for next few days....I will try to post my first vid here!! Thinking to start with what I am working on, hoping for suggestions in speeding up process for bulk orders....quicker it dries, the more I can create. Theres allot of youtube vids about papermache, and woodworking already...guarantee, none will be anything close to what I do!! When you add a touch of rock n roll or conscious reggae riddums mixed with my unusual personality...its a mystic lesson everytime kids.

Ok, I'm going off this page for a bit to make some calls through google...yep, no cell service anymore and loving it!...at first, it was tough because people were downright upset when they were unable to reach me. And then some work was affected because in the spa world, cells are essential. Took some convincing for management to email me to "schedule a phone conference" but it's been working out smoothly for over 3 months since! So stoked I did it!! No more huge cell bills ($200-$300 a month! ouch!) And people that are my close friends know where I live so they stop by or leave a note in mailbox outside. I can now paint without constant interruptions....and boy was it constant. Especially living on an island, people are highly interested in who is doing what with who...its almost ridiculous to think anyone has privacy when coconut wireless is faster than high speed internet! I was using Facebook like a blog more and more so I made the switch. I kept deativating my account to avoid posts about exs and people who suck ha ha...at least here I can sign on and explain in more detail why they suck...but don't worry, I won't go there...gossip is boring.

This blog is a great way for people to find out what I'm doing first hand with my art and work. No need to wonder Mishel fans (errr or enemies ayayay)...I am planning to post everyday as much as possible. This blog is my gift to family and friends to view an open diary of my interests and passions too. (Yes, I know, I was supposed to go offline to make calls, but the thoughts are flowing hehe)

Recently, with the passing of my kids grandmother, I've been thinking quite allot about what I will leave behind for my children when its my turn to really go to "the other side" scary thought because I'm not at all ready or willing...still so much to see and do. And although, death will probably knock in my older age, I can't help but wonder if I'm doing everything I should to make a positive mark that will be unforgotten. And so, here I am blogging away! Hopefully, this blog will be something long-lasting enough to be read in 3000? by my great great great grandkeikis! WOW! That would be a trip...I may even be a collectors item! Because all of my artworks are ONLY originals...I don't do reprints.

Not many know this, but people who purchase my art can also contact me for touch ups, additions, and I will sign off on reprints a buyer wants to make money from. My income is from my licenses and businesses...my art is something I don't want to ever worry about bringing me income (but don't get me wrong, a phat tip worth thousands for a "starving artist?" I'm in baby)...seriously, my financial status shouldn't take something from any art piece. Whats up with art priced at over $30K after I thought I was looking at a finger painting..?  Amazing how some art is over priced to some and a great deal to another...but thats how the art scene works...ultimately, it is a product. And how you promote the product is important for the sale...and increasing value if you're lucky. And like my art teacher in highschool said "art is everything and everything is art" Mahalo T.Reyes!! So whatever you feel its worth, as long as it brings you or someone happiness, its totally worth every penny...even if its just the name you are purchasing. Let's face it, anyone would be silly not to purchase a Picasso even if it was his earliest works while in diapers! Hell, I'd buy his old diapers if I could resell on amazon for unreal cash...hmm...wait...maybe...nah, I'd sell it--shipping not included, must bring gloves hehe.

See you on the other side,

~M.
