WILL YOU BE READY
WHEN SANTA DROPS IN?
Aloha my fellow elves! First, mahalo to all followers and people who have checked out my blog!! Huge mahalo for inspiring me to keep my goals. I skipped a few days to dig out our RECYCLED Christmas decorations to begin filling hale with that xmas spirit. Holidays are not an easy task for me but I try hard not to be "humbug" for the people who are so filled with xmas cheer they could spit candy canes.
One thing is for sure, this year I am not going to stand in any long lines or bumper to bumper traffic trying to score the big deals. Not going to go that route with gift purchases. Instead, I am reminding everyone what xmas is really about...making memories and spending time together. Even made my own wrapping paper, much more fun decorating and drawing something unique and special. I also sewed some items that can be used to calm and soothe when things are spinning out of control...no not a "funny" cigarette! lol! This year my presents involved essential oils and handmade goods...appreciated and special.
Swear, sometimes I wish I could tell everyone on the loud speakers at the malls; "SAVE YOUR MONEY BY CREATING IT ALL WITH YOUR FAMILY INSTEAD!!!'
When I see all the expensive ornaments, I can't help but think about the days when we would gather around the tree talking about each specially made xmas ornaments----made from scratch; the paper garland (wait til you see my version in upcoming tutorials!), or the popcorn garland, and the tree topper everyone makes together! C'mon, opening that funky handmade pair of pjs is what its about right? So get your ingredients out and ready folks; flour, glue, air dry clays, etc..and create a cherished longer lasting memory to add to your tree...also, can watch my tutorials for inspiration...and the Hendrix music is good too (;
I have been trying to get things done asap to focus on editing my new art tutorial!! Not going too great because I am still a bit unfamiliar with video presentation. May just produce a power point presentation with some pics for this first one just so it's out before Christmas. I'm thinking a tutorial about Christmas ornaments posted after xmas wouldn't be as interesting /:
These YouTube videos are not as easy as they seem, especially from an ancient laptop! Plus, I am super nervous in front of a camera! Something I need to get over asap...so forgive all the rough edges for my first one.
There are so many environmentally friendly projects I am working on that I am excited to show everyone here too; outdoor garden borders, trellis, and the anatomy paper mache sculptures! But since I am no videographer, I've been using the assistance of my teenager, who is a whiz at information technology. Only, soon my teen will be on a plane to visit brother so my time is limited in getting tutorial completed. My son is also great at video editing and has a brand new apple laptop with built in software, I'm positive once I can finally make it out there, he will produce an amazing presentation and give mom some awesome training! For now, please have patience with my rookie editing and extremely flawed video piece...but eh, it will be easy to follow my instructions and can always hit replay over and over again (;
Guess while my chitlins are spending the holidays together, I will be on this little island working hard to get all projects "pau" (finished). And although, I will be missing them both like crazy, I am comforted knowing they are catching up with eachother sharing wonderful memories.
When will tutorial be completed? I will post a PPP but keep working on my original audio version too...it's too funny not to post it. I am a nervous nelly around the camera but I know the more I can produce these, the more ridiculous I can be I'm sure! lol! At least the (Hendrix) background music & random pics of Maui will keep things interesting while I work through the kinks.
The surf right now is pumping on north shore...wish I had a snap of that to show here! Gosh, if Santa gifted me (of course Santas real!! ha ha!!), I would ask for a trip back to Bali (with my kiddos of course!)...and a new board...all I want for xmas is an epic surf adventure...and some cookies.
Stay tuned for my very first art tutorial
posted here within 48hours!!!!
See you on the other side,
~M.
