KNOW YOUR ROOTS.Ever wonder where your name originated? Or what it means? Me too!! The only things my family told me where too ridiculous to research..until now.
First, I was told my great great etc. great grandfather "rode with Pancho Villa" probably something just to scare me into leading a decent path...and nothing Id want to share for a school report on my family tree...so I have not been interested to find whether this particular info is in fact, true.
Then, years later was actually told...ready for this one? I was informed by my sweet aging gramasita that I was related to George Lopez!! Lol! He has yet to return my calls...but I can see the Narvaez smile in George so Im hopeful heehee..
And finally, the main reason Im so curious now...my birth certificate is really messed up. Apparently, the day I was born, the staff was high. My parents names are spelled wrong, and my real name? Michael...yes, a boys name...and thankfully, I have children to prove this an obvious error...one that Ive never thought to have changed. I have a passport and DL, so Im good. And nobody has ever called me that once...not even a "hey mikey, he likes its! He likes it! He really likes it!" that old commercial always sent shivers up my spine too! Lol! Now I know why!
So far, I found the Narvaez 'coat of arms,' and that I am from a people whos culture and original roots are unknown...my roots go way back...we settled as a Basque people between France and Spain speaking and sharing traditions while maintaining our own. Ive always wondered why Ive been drawn to European cultures especially French and Spanish! I often tell my kids how I plan to live in Europe when they are off to college...which isnt too far away...so Im preparing this goal little by little...even learning French now!
I am still going to continue the research, its rather fun actually, and will let you know what else i find...maybe my grandfather who rode with Pancho Villa, dated Frida and had a love child named Michael? See, I know too much now..
See you on the other side,
~M.
