RECYCLED ART,
ITS WHATS FOR DINNER.

well for me anyway.....

I thought I'd create a mask from some old paper mache pieces that haven't been completed...plus, I was too lazy to start something from scratch /:  If you like this one, I swear I can do better...and if I had started from scratch, the elephant would have been WAY different...the piece for nose was originally a tentacle for the Jimi painting but I want to go with more curly so this was scrapped...and the small mask was from the kids project that was supposed to be tossed but I wanted to keep it in hopes of this glorious day when the mask is brought back from the creative alcatraz...and so let us begin...

...if you are a minimalist like muah, then you become a "m'guy'ver" artist that grabs whatevers available...for me it was this heavy duty bondo stuff I used to attach my faucet to the tub wall...but could've easily been another type that can pull a truck. And I would say "use gloves" but the minute you figure out how stuff like this sets...you'll wear oven mitts.

I prolly could'a drawn everything out on one piece of (grocery bag) paper, but was easier to be more detailed...should've waited to glue ears too because had to work around them once wire was poked in.

Got tired of looking at all the brown and mangled splotches of glue so painted it white....at this stage I would've completely covered everything with an air dry clay, but I only used a bit to soften the nose...wanted to save my expensive clay for more elaborate mask...this ones only $35 so didn't want to spend too much time...I would've also used a real hat, more embellishments, and maybe even custom fitted mask, if this was for a clients costume or for a special event. I priced my masks at a lower price this first time because I really want to get my art out there as much as possible!! And the Art=Mixx Maui is on fire right now!! I would love to see all my creations walking around me someday (:   I want to show I can make anything, create anything, and bring any vision to life...

Well, I got a bit nervous to cut out the eyes since I used bondo near them...if there wasn't bondo, I would've cut across the bridge of nose between eyes and completely removed that piece enough to fit a small mask that could be painted gold...or fix eyes and replace ridge using more plaster of paris and clay.

I am working on this one to show a General Manager of a local radio station here in the islands!! Yeha!! (TUTORIAL AVAILABLE). And someone else wants to see a sample of geometry style so I thought to mix the traditional style Jester painted with symetrical feel...ya dig? hehe... I'm having so much fun creating these masks!! I am hoping someone wants the full enchilada; mask, costume, headpiece, props, and more before the next art event at the MACC...I have a wild imagination sure to please anyone who is willing to be a living work of my art (:

p.s. Forgot to mention, I built a large enough hole on elephant mask to hold some lavender or peacock feathers...hmm scented masks...now that's an idea!
