It's all true too...every last word. The system has utterly failed. I am not who I've been. Today I am woman, man, and have two different first names & two different last...Either that or I don't officially exist. My father is someone I've never met and the hospital where I was "allegedly" born, no longer exists. Still there? Yes, I know, it's completely understandable that it's not understandable...and I understand if you do not understand, so do you understand?
Me neither.
Did I mention, I've traveled out of the country a few times? Paid taxes since I was in my teens? Have children?? This is the path I am on at the moment...endless conversations, on hold for hours, false hopes, and this has been for over 6months!! My identity is currently in question...and apparantly, not by our government...by me!! Tomorrow I find out if all my large stack of docs prove I'm me---even have my medical records....really hoping dmv supervisor recognizes the error in the system and makes an exception. Or I'm looking at no DL for another 6-7 months. My birth certificate is completely messed up (as I explained in previous posts; several errors in names)...and it's now trickled down to every possible resource that can prove my identity. If I want to change it in California, I'd need to fly there...with at least an ID to board plane /: and if I want to change it from here, it needs to be notarized...and you need an ID for that /: Get passport renewed? ID. Get copies of any legal docs? Yep, you guessed it, I f-ing D.
Usually, I don't give a hoot, but I gotta get things straight like tomorrow dude. Would like to start bringing supplies downtown for the big mural...and some friends and I are planning a big hike on Molokai soon...it's cheaper to fly then go by boat. Can't wait to do some island hopping asap...and Molokai always helps me see things more clearly...it's just the most wonderful place on this planet. I love the people, the land, the oceans, fishponds, and ancient aloha that I feel the minute I step on isle. I want to go and kokua a family there by painting a mural to raise some funds for their fishpond. Hoping for at least a state ID so I can get there soon while weathers forgiving. Thankfully, a friend is driving me to dmv in town tomorrow to see what the big boss says. Better dress nice from waist up just in case I'm stamped & approved!
Either I'm walking out a legal woman or man, whatever, I'll accept being a unicorn, call me Mishel or call me Michael, as long as I can fly, drive, and get into shows...then let's keep it flowing bright with lots of sparkly butterflies & fairies...d'oh! see, it's already happening. In the end, a paper doesn't decide who you are and where you are headed anyway...just need it to play the game to get there. Let's all manifest now ok, close your eyes...now imagine sweet & totally calm, me, getting all the fabulous ladies to smile and enjoy their day behind the dmv counters (some are known for minimal aloha)...they love me, I love them, we are at one, we all can see clearly the error and why it must be corrected asap in order for mama to bring home da bacon (and paint some murals overseas!!!)...heehee..now imagine my pic taken at DMV tomorrow...yes...the zit on chin is hidden...and shnap!
well, ok, not my best angle, but it'll work (;
See you on the other side,
~M
UPDATE: DMV KAHULUI ROCKS!!!
MAHALO NUI LOA FOR KOKUA (((:

Update; I was given a temporary drivers license and left the DMV feeling awesome...until the hard copy card never arrived by mail. When I returned, I was told there was "a hold" until I provided copy of my marriage license!! When I complained and asked to be reissued another temporary to use to send away for copy...they changed the hold to another request; I need to now have a valid passport in order to have hard copy sent. They gave me 60 days to get it done...not taking into consideration it takes time to arrive and for my budget to save to have expedited!! I was "forced" to sign doc accepting the offer before I was given a new temporary again. Of course I went to speak to anyone who could help; mayors office, director of finance (a total jerk too!!), and many other county & government officials. Basically, I was put off and then calls ignored. My license expires today. No ID, no means to get a new one, no help from even our mayor...he has avoided me from the start...lost count at how many calls he has yet to return. But he offers chocolate in the waiting room so thats cool. Now I drive without a valid license, can't get my car registered without it, can't fix my birth certificate without it, and if there's an emergency (god forbid!!) with my son overseas, I won't be able to get on a plane...again, the system has heavily failed. Now my calls are not even answered at the mayors office...and his assistants avoid me too. If anyone out there has any suggestions how I can get back my identity back, please share here...or forward to a great attorney! Mahalo! ~M.
ReplyDeleteOh...forgot to mention, when I was given the temporary, I immediately went the same day to send off for my marriage license...and when I called DMV to ask if this was enough...they said not any longer. It's the passport or nothing. My mayor is a toad who has no regard for the hardworking and honest citizens, DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS FRAUD! MAUI MAYOR IS JUNK.
DeleteUPDATE: sent for passport, showed DMV, received extension on temporary...stay tuned!
