"All Screwed Up" and ready to hang (;
My rejected entry for the Hui'noe'au & Maui Watershed Art Exhibition 2015,
"All Screwed Up" 3'x3' Corrugated Steel, screws/bolts, acrylics ($500 non-resident or $300 Kamaaina)...the Malama Wao Akua will be cut off so it's just seaturtle...I think the message is clear without the lettering, don't you?
Well, my art entry for the Hui Exhibition didn't make the cut....but I am so proud of this piece for what it stands for---Maui Watershed & Endangered Native Species. The rusted corrugated steel holds a sheet of steel I painted with acrylics and used an electric drill to carve out details...and screws & bolts are the accents to represent growths on our oceans angels. If we don't do something to protect these beautiful creatures, what will become of them? My entry wasn't included in exhibition, but I will be hanging this one for sure! I know I should try to paint a picture like the others did...but I feel like it's too easy...if I'm not using a power tool or it doesn't involve my tool box, it's just not fun to me.

Allot's happened over the past few months; my fabulous son visited! yay!!, I took on a second job to help bring my daughter to Paris (please donate at: gofund.me/islandmomsgift!! and I had another offer to start a school! And there's been a couple really interesting things happen with my boundaries being overstepped by some very confused individuals /: Ups & downs for sure but I'm grateful for all blessings, any blessings!

My furniture designs have been put on hold until I can finish real estate school, but more recently, because of a woman who posted my name and where I live!! I was so shocked that was even legal! But I had to decide if I was going to be bullied into doing something I knew was not fair; paying someone to leave me alone. My friends have been supportive, and many others have emailed me telling me not to give up my furniture designs, and that's what's really kept me moving forward, people showing love & Aloha! On that note, I will be creating something soon from an old Baldwin piano! Until then, my reputation will have to shine however its meant to...I can't worry about what someone is going to post about me or my businesses...I choose instead to be stoked someone is putting time into getting people to remember my face...just wish I would've sent a better text that day heehee (;   Artists are usually mysterious and weird anyway! lol!! Maybe people will want to have an original design from "the lady upcountry" Mishel Narvaez original! I finally have stickers to put on my pieces so it's not reproduced and sold as someone elses, like what recently happened!! I can't believe there's little old woman out there that are that devious and hurtful! Ayayay!

Had a brief job that let me create! Mahalo Maalaea GS!

This year I've had so many people take from me...take my pic without permission, take my heart and crush it, take my hard work and not pay me for it, take my privacy and blast it online??....but the one thing I am so glad I will always have, my art. It's mine...and I can call it what I want, hang it or not, price it like I feel...and keep going. Lifes pretty tough these days, I'm working two jobs, building vocational programs, painting, woodworking, and planning a career in real estate so I can do more art....that's all I'm interested in (besides my wonderful children!) so to the woman who thought you could break my spirit---salud! Here's to your enlightenment and bright shiny soul that obviously needs some lovin...I'm hoping for everyones sake you get laid very very soon.

See you on the other side,

~M.

p.s. I'm asking everyone to give up coffee or some daily indulgence equal to or less than $3 to my daughters funds for her trip abroad...I figured if someone asked me,"hey Mishel, can you donate a couple bucks to my kids fundraiser?" or "hey Mishel, you have a couple dollars I can borrow for a coffee?"  Most likely, I'd dig in my pocket to kokua. I'm kinda surprised not allot more of friends or family have donated /: And many people I've given funds to or helped out in some way....nothing still...wow...if you really want to know who your family and friends are...start a gofundme campaign /:  (ouch*)
