VICTORY!!!! WATER WARRIORS WON!!!!
BUT----is the fight really over? That's the buzz everywhere right now...yet the beginning to global change has begun!! We the People are realizing the strength in numbers and the power of social media was unreal...people were informed mostly by Facebook and other social media sites...people are connecting faster than ever now...nationwide there are thousands "friending" in order to help spread awareness...and that's beautiful...all working together to fight corporate greed, government bullying, and the decades of disrespect that's been inflicted on indigenous peoples...we've all had enough...and we played by their rules...now it's time for change...and people are supporting eachother to do whatever possible to make sure their votes matter. The numbers aren't the proof any longer with votes...it's the massive gathering of those same votes that makes it so obvious there's corruption within our government. When our military are actually fighting for the people against our own government...there's something very wrong happening. What shocks me is it's so obvious, even the most uneducated individual knows they have rights to have water...that's not unclean or deadly. So now what? Well, in my opinion...we wait. Wait until the last truck leaves, until the land is returned back properly, until everyones back home safe, until all negotiations met...and all is truly "cleaned up." And I will have the workshops to educate community and myself on the sacred art of tipi mural design, have more discussions (maybe on AkakuTV??), and one last art exhibition to offer community an opportunity to send their "shakas" overseas by adding their personal print to the canvas I will be presenting and offering to use either as shelter or for another use. I was going to sell my vehicle, still not sure, depends how things go from now until after event DEC15. Wanted to help build a tipi when we arrived as a community of gatherers to support water rights...but had some negative feedback from Native Americans on FB recently (some had assumed I was "desecrating" the culture if I displayed a tipi with painted stuffs, and so feeling misunderstood, and out of respect, I decided not to show people just yet how it looks built and just speak on history and create the tipi mural on canvas...maybe we can just discuss and organize something later on with the Native Americans here on island so everyone can enjoy the sacred tipi. A few of the same NAs actually made contact and said we could get in touch to have time to talk more and understand more...was cool to establish some new friendships and keep moving forward with my offerings to community.
One thing that I learned to throughout the planning, are peoples pride and how much it can stand in the way of progression. There's so much hatred between both sides, all sides, inside, every side...we MUST remind ourselves that WE ARE THE PEOPLE. ONE PEOPLE. We all have had oppression, racism, etc. we all have had major human losses, destruction of our cultures...and TOGETHER WE ALL SHALL OVERCOME THROUGH PEACEFUL EFFORTS AND LOVING HEARTS. So please haters and segregators, PLEASE PLEASE STOP the negative bashing, posting rude or sarcastic replies, because it only places us farther back as a people and the struggle becomes wasted only to start all over from humble beginnings again. When you see negative, squash it with positive...remind them they are worth it, as much as you are to work towards forgiveness and unification. Maybe they had a bad day, maybe they just lost something or someone that mattered to them, maybe they are shouting online because they are lonely...PLEASE try to FORGIVE, SHARE, HELP see past negative and hate...because guaranteed what's behind it is pure love & light everytime. We are all truly brothers and sisters in spirit.
CONGRATULATIONS STANDING ROCK WARRIORS!!!! #WATERISLIFE.
See you on the other side (this December!!),
~M.
