psst!----I know the secret!!!

Ask and you shall receive.

The universe is not waiting...it's laughing. Go get what you want, promise, there's an abundance. And there's not going to be any of it running out like some want you to think. Best advice? Do not stop for even a moment. Think it, dream it, be it...before the window closes. Can you tell I'm excited? I have been watching that popular inspirational film...not posting name because I don't want to promote the film just that more like those should be made. More inspiration on this planet is needed that's fersure...

No exact time but
someone told me I painted bob
 (upside down!)
in under 17 minutes!!
I guess the reason I'm so positive is things are going allot better with my art!! yay!!! I was looking back at the posts and clearly I was granted my wish to paint live and be recognized by my community. I am a believer in the power of manifestation!! It's so clear now with what I'm going to focus more energy on---murals. I LOVE murals and there's still so many types I have yet to create, using different mediums, styles, etc.
I recently tried doing an upside down speed painting during a reggae performance by Marty Dread (Mahalo Marty D & crew!! what an honor!!) It was painted in....under 2 songs hehe...not sure how many exact minutes before I turned it over on final beat...but everyone seemed to enjoy it. Next gig I'm going to offer a glue painting with flower petals thrown on to create a portrait!! (google; 'glitter portrait,' it'll be kinda like that presentation) Gotta throw that hippy country girl twist on things heehee.. ****UPDATE: I recently emailed the Santana management requesting to paint live at his next show on Maui!!!! Please, if someone is reading this that's a fan of live portrait painting & mural artwork by a Chicana Artist on Maui---email him or his managers and ask them to consider meeting to hear my proposal for a great cause!!!!****

ARTWORK BY DA GIRLIES GOING TO PAR-EEEE (((:
AND YES, THEY CAN SHIP (;
I'm still working several jobs to save for my kids school trip to Paris...but after the attacks, I'm a bit nervous now wondering if we should plan another destination /:  Meanwhile, the fundraising continues...and still only $20 balance on the gofundme.com account....booooo familia...shame shame I know all your names. And some are doctors, hard to believe...and go to church every Sunday wow /:  Maybe I should show up and have a basket of my own hehe...sorry, I'm usually positive when it comes to familia...but dang. Oh wellee I'm determined and I'm hoping I can even meet them there with the power of manifestation and hard work (((:
Not sure if I posted their pics of signs (look above! for most recent orders!) they've been working on to sell at swapmeet this month. I think the recycled signs make great gifts and easy to ship or carry on the plane. Maui Made with Aloha!

Also still teaching anatomy and studying for realtors exam. Have to pay the bills but these days I'm trying to think outside the box when creating income. Having fun while working is a must for me. And for a moment, I thought I'd paint more regular size paintings...but murals are just too much fun I am already thinking about my next art project...that involves live fish, plants, and other elements...so many ideas in my head...like a "fish bowl" in the shape of a peace sign with fighting fish inside...or a mural with light sensors...how about a naughty xrated fish bowl? lol! Yep, lots of ideas that I can't wait to bring to life. I may stop teaching for awhile to focus on the art more since I know I won't be able to give my apprentices as much time with me as possible. And I think the Hui is having another exhibition so better get in gear creating something they may actually accept this time /:   Really pushing myself with every entry until I get into show!! I can't go too wild with the next one...so whatever I do this time will be on a smaller scale...unless theres a shop that wants to sponsor a huge design for a fish tank??? Bueller? Bueller? (crickets..)

Another medium I'd like to try; using tools to burn...or acid burning on wood and metals...that seems very cool. But right now the only materials abundant around me are still; drift, pallets, & bamboo....and I decided bamboo is a tree I don't want to cut down. Now that type of building material is permanently off my list. And drift is only awesome to me when created in a LTL way...but right now my studio space is small. I dream of a huge warehouse I can house all my designs!! And 2-3 hydraulic lifts!! Murals & sculptures 24/7!!

My studio space now is about to close...since my landlord may be selling or raising our rent...he sent us a letter explaining the rising costs of mortgage rates, etc...not sure yet what we will do but at least he was proper in giving us (& the rest of our neighbors) a large enough notice and choice to move or cough up more dinero /:  He's been a great landlord, never invading privacy, always on it with any repairs or maintenance...so you'd think we'd be bummed---but we are actually stoked!!! We've been bouncing around the idea to move closer to school and see, the universe (Jehovah, Jah, Great One, whatever the main source is called!) Made decision for me to move forward and we are excited! Thankfully, I've been downsizing this past year since the last move (another house sold!)...was tired of moving large items so we now have only the basics...and no desire to accumulate more!! We could literally move in under 3hours. Our plans are to travel and keep our home base on Maui...no need for that grandfather clock and diamond ring...I'm leaving my kids my love and treasures only I've created...and maybe a ton of land around the world from art sales heehee (:

The planet needs healing, no doubt about that...and I really feel people will listen---or in my case, see! from artistic expression! The way to teach best and the way I've noticed people learn more is from mnemonics. Interaction, visuals, and yes, art. I'm using art, but people can be awakened through incredible writings, songs, instruments...maybe you are great at cleaning houses...maybe all someone thinks their great at is what they mostly do...ok...use that skill whatever it is and help our planet...are those cleaners all natural?..be conscious, that helps too. Clean houses and donate to a great cause if possible. Play your guitar for your neighbor who had a bad day. Bring over your leftovers to someone at work. Don't waste one bit of what you have or what skill you have...because it's a gift. Yes, your superior cleaning skills were sent from Heaven! My point is, to share whatever you have by helping someone with it...and not sure who? start with the planet. But no worry, I'll show you what I mean (;

I was getting down on my lack of art pieces compared to other artists...but I'm ok with creating limited artworks...in fact, I not only want to create "one-of-a-kind" art but also "one time only" art that won't be copied...at least not by me....art thats for the cause...art that speaks once but can be redesigned to sound differently using different mediums and techniques. Art that lasts throughout history that can bring people together creating love and solutions.

It felt spectacular to be on stage accepting mahalos from the HFUU President; Vincent Mina (Mahalo Amigo!!!) I liked the part where he said "bridging the gap" that felt great to know my art represented something strong & positive. Mahalo to everyone (special Mahalo to Simon Russell, Keith Ranney, & my artist amiga; Anne Provost! And to Lynn Bear who made me feel so welcomed and appreciated the moment I walked in the door!) at HFUU for helping me step up my game and for letting my art be center stage for our islands farmers to enjoy!---and even the country!--with Congresswoman Tulsi there in front of mural giving speech on soil health! WOW!! Amazing, bravo, and again, mahalo for a memorable evening!!!

Mural for HFUU CONVENTION 2015
By Artist, Mishel Narvaez
Congresswoman Tulsi center stage in front of hand painted mural...wo how cool is that??!

So what's next? More studying, more learning as always...more ways to create a positive environment for my community and keikis future. But a new outlook that I can always do more and shouldn't ever leave work for someone else to do. If I believe I can, I will. And I will also have more creative things to share as the weeks move on...like a new website; www.gardenpartymaui.com....and Maui's newest arts program is in the works with a major county agency!....and if there's a calling, I may even create an exciting exhibition for artists like me to have more opportunity. There's not allot of venues and events for larger than life sculptures, murals, etc...I am hoping there's more artists that want to collaborate and kokua eachother by creating more resources for the arts and environmental causes. Bottomline, artists need space...outdoor indoor whatever ya got. We need more warehouse owners to offer up space to let artists create a voice that can be heard across the globe!!! I'm calling on all industrial locations, places that can hold large art pieces until completion. I'm calling on owners of large buildings that have huge walls that are eyesores...let the artists fix our planets self esteem!!! Lift up the communities so people are encouraged to do more for their environment!! This planet needs artists to help communicate and educate humans on issues they just aren't recognizing in their everyday lives. We have the power to stop and the choice to say no. But the bells and whistles of dark intentions seems to keep us in fear. Remember your choices and move with grace & ease. Watching inspirational movies...this past week I kept one in the DVD player and played the audio if I had a bad day so it's on throughout the hale playing like a song in my head while I do house chores..hearing the constant message that I am a powerful being is cool and helps me see that; YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CREATE YOUR OWN UNIVERSE!!! ASK & YOU SHALL RECEIVE!!! Or put some headphones on...and keep movin!

Lot's of fun ahead this month, even got a few holiday party invites...not a social butterfly but I'm going to make myself get out there more to discuss my artful intent (: and maybe meet the man of my dreams...wait a sec...I haven't dreamt him up yet!! lol!! Not even sure what I want in a man anymore...Anyway, Christmas for us is bitter sweet because we are away from our family...and somehow all the crazy Christmas cheer seems wrong to me...like we should be tossing our dollars toward sustainability rather than at cash registers in department stores /:  Why is society so absent-minded?? Wake up!!! Why on earth would you purchase more plastic things made from China that you will throw out in our landfill?? Sorry, I'm just not into it. The most we will probably do is purchase a real tree...a charlie brown size...and plant it. Sadly, that's what's needed more than tons, literally tons, of wrinkled up wrapping paper. My kid has no desire this year to "open presents" she said if it's all about spending...then she's fine going to mall and spending some cash for the day...on having fun at the movies with friends. But don't worry, I'm no scrooge...I decorate, I cook, I sing, I even wrap presents....but the only difference is it's entirely hand made with love and blessings. That's what society is loosing...the love and blessings in everything we do!!! Even the soil needs our love and blessings...it starts from the heart.
Now where's that spiked eggnog? heehee (;

See you on the other side,

~M.

My new amigos!! Great work HFUU!!
